Artificial Flower

Although fresh flowers are the symbols of beauty, love and sympathy the need for creating artificial ones has been present since ancient times. The fragile beauty of flowers has always amazed people, and they wanted to depict it using several materials, ranging from stone, and wood to manmade materials.

The artificial flower production began with the Italians in Europe, although it was the French people who made the production flourish towards the end of the 18th century and introduced this art to England.

In our days, the artificial flower industry is a highly specialized one. They manufacture cloth flowers and paper flowers, as well as rarer forms of artificial flowers, such as soap flowers and clay flowers. The most popular artificial flower materials are made up of complex chemicals. Advancement in technology of artificial flower fabrication has led to produce breathtakingly authentic artificial blossoms, which feel like real flowers and have bright, natural colors.

The huge improvement of the artificial flower production and the increasing need for low maintenance home decorating accessories, have turned the flowering artificial flower industry into a multi-billion-dollar business. Many of the individual flowers, stems, and foliage are now imported from Thailand, China, and Honduras, where the intensive hand labour that this industry requires can be acquired more readily.

While imitating the real flower, an artificial flower lasts longer and requires much less care than the natural one. It can be a decorative item on its own, or as a part of an arrangement. While artificial flower arrangements do not need water, sunlight or tender care, they can be perfectly lifelike. Even real touches can be added to the false flora, such as holes that look like insect damage or roses with thorns.

In our days, artificial flower arrangements come in several forms, such as bouquets, garlands, hanging bushes, swags, flower bunches or wreaths. They allow us to disregard seasons and match the color of the room with the color of the artificial flower we are going to use. We can also use artificial flower decoration to make our room cosier, or display them in the kitchen to brighten up the place.
